((Oops, forgot to move the posts . Sorry for the late post, been busy)) Animals leapt up and bit into the hulking Onigari, thousands upon thousands, all infected and rabid. Pryll roared and swung his arms round in a vain attempt to kill the swarming mass of animals, varying from the tiniest insect to the largest hound. It was the small mammals that were worst- they were quick and hart to hit. He pounded the ground with his fists, releasing a healthy green mist, destroying the infection within the animals. Very few survived as the infection was set in so deep most simply disintergrated. However, more came, piling in on top of Pryll. Thousands of small creatures had latched onto him and were clinging on tight. He flailed his arms wildly, but to no avail. He fell to the ground, creatures large and small piling in on top of him. He lay there as animals bit and nipped him, thinking hard. Deciding, he brought his fist up and brought it down hard on one of his green boils- spraying liquid all over the horde of creatures. He gasped and clutched the hole, conserving the green liquid. He was weakening, in mind and muscle. Without thinking, he charged into the approaching platoon of bearers, almost five hundred strong. When he was there, he released his wound, spraying the green liquid of health all over the infected bearers. They screamed as they dissapeared underneath their cloaks. For some, even the cloaks were so infected that even they turned to dust! Pryll swung his arm at the remaining group, killing most of them. He collapsed, kicking at the last few. It's over he thought, There can't be any more now. There can't be...The world around him went fuzzy and faded away, as he passed out from exhaustion and loss of blood.

Ayria and Karr were in rather the same situation. Both were surrounded by the infected animals, dozens of them lunging and staggering zombie-like to them. She hadn't gotten bitten since the first bite, but that one had turned a nasty blackish color and burned like it was set one fire. She ignored the clouds in her mind as Karr repeatedly lunged out, snapping with his deadly jaws and slashing out with claws as long as her fingers. Karr was lucky - he'd managed to avoid being bitten as of yet.
They fought with everything they had, the uninfected animals taking on the infected ones, good against evil. The battle was at the point where it was like an evenly matched tug-of-war...neither side moved, but it wouldn't take much for one side to overpower the other.
That one thing was Pryll. He'd been buried in infected animals, but had freed himself, and had practically wiped out the rest of the opposing side in seconds. But it had taken its toll on him - she watched in horror as he collapsed, unconscious.
"Karr, we have to go to him. There aren't many of the infected left, the animals will deal with them." With a nod, the great cat bounded over to Pryll, lying unconscious. She slid off of his back, stumbling a bit as she did, and knelt down. "Please, come here," She called to a passing Miyo - a canine like species with saliva that did wonders for healing wounds. Upon her request, the dog carefully ran his tongue along the length of the worst of the bites and gashes, and they slowed greatly in the amount they bled.
Ayria ignored the battlefield behind them, though it took effort not to look back, assess the destruction. "Pryll," She said, as well as in her head - that was how he's spoken to her before as an Onigari, maybe it would work now. "Pryll, wake up!" She half-shouted, concern flavoring her words. If he died, she'd no idea what she would do.

Pryll's eyes opened slowly as he regained his vision. Ayira was next to him, telling him to wake up. "I'm awake," he thought to her, "Thank you for coming to help me," he looked past her to the animal war going on, "I'll be able to help clear out the last of the animals, but not much more...not much more...". He pushed himself up using his great arms and picked Ayira up, "I want you to stay safe with me--wait, let me look at that wound," He held her gently out in front of him with one hand, and sliced a small cut in his arm. He smeared the blood on her cut and watched as the infection dissapeared. Smiling, he placed her back onto his back and ran toward the animals.
He sweeped his arm across the low-lying animals, destroying them, and pummelled the larger ones. They attacked him, weakening him still, but eventually he prevailed. Not a single infected animal was left alive. He put Ayira down to talk to the animals, then wandered into into the centre of the battlefield, where an ancient-looking bearer stood, the last one. The old man looked up at him, his eyes full of evil. "So, we are defeated," He croaked, "A great mythical beast has aided them in battle. They are cowards, but in the end, they defeated us. A close battle wouldn't you say?" Pryll roared and crushed him, leaving only a pile of dust. He looked up to see the plague disappearing from the foliage. The bearers were defeated, the effects reversed! He sighed and shifted back into Kuk, and went to congratulate the druids, but got there only to find a small few remaining. "Well fought, druids! The bearers are gone forever! I must leave now, for I have important buisness to attend to. He walked over to Ayira and the animals and shifted back into Pryll. "You did well out there, Ayira. I'm sorry I had to put you through this. Listen, we can walk out a little further and set up a small camp, have a few days rest and then continue. I'm all ready to go, despite being all cut up," He chuckled, although it didn't even seem funny to him. The wounds from the Onigari had been transferred onto him, so he was bitten all over. They would heal in a few days though.

Pryll awoke, to her relief. He healed the wound in her arm, and she almost immediately felt better, she felt the infection leave her blood. The fight did not go on much longer before only a singer bearer remained, and he was easily done away with.
She stood there a moment. The animals, the ones who were well enough to stand, sensing that the battle was over, flocked to her, looking for guidance.
"Everything is over," She said to them, in human, though. No matter how much she tried, the language she'd spoken hadn't come back to her. "You all may go home - and know that I send you my thanks. I am in your debt, I owe my life to every single one of you." The animals didn't understand her, speaking in human, but they could tell by her tone what she meant. They slowly dispersed, attending to their dead. Contrary to what was thought by most, almost all animals dealt with their dead in much the same way as humans, unless they were outcasts. Karr approached her., his maw covered in blood. Ushi followed, nursing a shattered front leg and a torn ear, but looking mighty pleased with himself. Urusai were known to enjoy fighting. Ayria glanced at Pryll, asking silently if they could wait a moment before leaving. She walked over to Karr first.
"Thank you," She said into his fur, in his language. She hugged Ushi, careful not to bump his paw. She would have asked if he wanted help for the injury, but being a proud species, it would have been rude of her. "I can't thank you two enough. Karr, you kept me safe, and Ushi, you took the blows meant for him." She grinned. "Idiot. Either way, thank you again. If you ever need anything - anything at all - find me." Karr and Ushi bowed slightly, and she laughed. It was an awkward sight, the two trying to perform human actions.
"Tell your friend we give him our thanks as well for helping win the battle," They said before wandering off to find family. She returned to Pryll's side and transferred the message, but then fell silent. Now that everything was over, the guilt had set in again, the knowledge that, every animal that died out there, died because of her, because she sent them out there. The guilt gnawed at her, but she made an effort to act as though nothing was wrong.
"Where are we going to camp?" she asked, keeping emotion from her voice. "I can collect herbs and make something that should help you heal a bit faster."

"We can wander out into the jungle a little. I want to get away from this battlefield..." Pryll sighed. So many nightmare memories. Just another 150 years... he thought to himself. "Come on," He told Ayira, "We'd better set off now," And walked into the green foliage. They walked for about quarter of an hour, but they didn't cover a large amount of ground due to the exhaustion of battle. "We can stay here for now," Pryll said when they came to a tiny clearing, big enough to make a small tent. He collapsed onto the soft grass, almost falling asleep, but suddenly shook his head and breathed out quickly. "I'll go gather some sticks and big leaves for a makeshift tent," Pryll said to Ayira, "If you could make a small fire, that'd be great. I'll just--wait, do you eat meat? I'll be able to just get some fruit and nuts for now. I'm not too keen on meat to be honest. Anyway, I'd better be off,"
He'd gathered some large flat leaves and held then under one arm, a bunch of fair-sized sticks under the other. SNAP! Something was moving near him. SNAP! Pryll looked round and noticed some pinkish long-necked, crocodile-headed animals moving in the distance. They were at different heights, as well, some high, some low, some imbetween. Not wanting any trouble, he rushed off back to camp. When he approached, he tried not to look flushed, then sat down and started weaving the sticks and leaves together to make a canvas. "How are you coming along?" He asked Ayira, "Ooh! I forgot to get food. Would you mind getting some?"

"No, I don't eat meat," She said. It would be equivalent to eating her brother, if she had one. Being able to speak to animals just made the whole meat - eating thing seem so cannibalistic.
"Yeah, sure," She said, and slipped into the woods, grateful for the moment of peace. It actually ended up being somewhat disturbing - there were no animals to speak of, none whatsoever. Not even any out of eyesight - they would have come to her.
"All dealing with their family, their losses," She said, and was mostly right. But even if the day had been normal, there wold be no animals around here. She of course didn't know this, having not seen the alligator-headed thing that was not far away.
As if on cue, there was a sound like the hiss of a cat, but much louder. She froze, an armful of fruits and nuts and the like clutched tightly. There was a sound of a twig breaking, but much, much louder...like a whole tree breaking. Spooked, she hastily returned to camp.
"I'm pretty sure this is edible," She said, placing what she'd gathered on the ground and casting nervous glances at the forest.
"Hey pryll...What did you see when you went looking for food? Anything of interest?" She asked casually.

((Sorry for late reply, been ill))
"Hmm? Oh, anything interesting...not exactly...well, I did see something, but not particularly...having said that, it probably would class as interesting. I saw a crocodile-headed thing, pinkish, with long necks! And there was a few of them, and I didn't see any eyes in particular...or legs. It was weird. So, yes, I did see something interesting. There, that's one half finished," He was talking about the tent he was constructing, "Just one more half to go..."
As he said that, an eyeless crocodile head stuck it's head through the green foliage and flicked it's tongue out, before retreating back into the jungle. Pryll dismissed it at first, but then suddenly, he said to Ayira, "Wait, there was one of those crocodile-heads behind you! I just saw it! It--it had no eyes, and it flicked it's tongue out! Weird...I don't like it. Anyway, the fruit's edible," Pryll shifted into a black beast with six arms, each with bladed claws at the end, similar to praying mantis arms, and two small legs. It's head was round with several eyes in the centre, and a large gaping, sharp-toothed mouth. "For protection," He screeched, and munched into some of the fruit.

Ayria nodded. "I heard something...I don't know what, but it sounded big." She made a thoughtful face. "Maybe it was whatever you saw?" She took a step forewords. "Do you want help finishing that?" She asked referring to the half done tent.
When he said that he saw one of the things behind her, she jumped and spun around, but it was already gone. "Was it coming to eat us?" She said hesitantly. "No, then it would have snapped us up now... Was it just coming to see us? Wait, it didn't have eyes..." She followed suit and grabbed a fruit, biting into it. "What do you think it could have been? Was it that thing we're supposed to find? It sounds like it has enough heads..."

"It might be...I'm starting to think that all these creatures do all share the same body," Said Pryll in a rough, screechy voice, "We should be prepared. It will ask us a riddle and I will need you to answer it, as you're the only one who it will understand. Make sure your brain's switched on,". He bit into a fruit, and waited. The tent would have to come later, unless..."Ayira, could you please finish the other half?" He said, pushing the leaves and sticks to her, "I'm going to look around," And with that he hooked a claw on an overhead branch and swung up into the canopy of the jungle.
He looked down at the small make-shift camp, and at the surrounding area. Silent. Still. Nothing...wait. He heard something, he saw something! There! There it was! Creeping slowly towards Ayira...AYIRA! He dropped off his branch and shot down to the ground, landing in front of the creature.
From here, he could see that the creature had a short-ish sosage-like body, with two legs. At the front were two lizard eyes. Around these two staring eyes were seven long necks, each with a crocodile head at the end. It skin was scaly with tints of green in places. It's eyes squinted in anger, but the heads simply seemed to 'look' around aimlessly. "AYIRA!" Pryll shouted, moving backwards slowly, "Get out here NOW! I need you to tell it that we seek the k'hadryn crystal, and that we are willing to answer the riddle. Quickly..."

Ayria nodded and began constructing the other half of the tent with the materials supplied for it. She had just finished when Pryll came tearing down from the treetops and yelled for her.
Dropping everything, she bolted to where he was and froze when she saw it - it was exactly as Pryll had described it. She was frozen in place for a moment before stammering, "We are looking for the k'hadryn crystal." The words, though they came naturally, were the hardest ones she'd ever had to try to form words with, and she stumbled over the words, her tongue unfamiliar with the style of speaking. It was an elaborate mixture of hissing, teeth-clicking and throaty growls.
She repeated herself more clearly, adding, "We will answer your riddle." It seemed to stare at her, regarding her with suspicion, and it growled once. IT wasn't a word - no, speaking was different than growls or hisses that only expressed emotions, though it was near impossible for most people to tell the difference - this was simply a sound of curiosity and a bit of surprise. However, she did catch the threatening undertones.
"Pryll...you're sure this is it?" She asked, though she didn't have many doubts. What if they couldn't answer the riddle? Steeling herself, she waited for it to speak.

"Yes, I am sure this is it. Not many other animals have seven heads. At least not that I know of, or my diary!" Pryll whispered to her, "Just try to speak wisely, and maybe--" He was cut short by a growl coming from the beasts seven head, each one a different tone. "You Can Speak To Me," The creature spoke to Ayira, "This Is Very Odd. Never The Less, I Shall Ask You My Riddle. Should You Get It Right, You Can Have The K'hadryn Crystal Should You Answer Correctly...Should You Get It Wrong...Well, You're Fate Shall Be Sealed. Answer Me This:
What Does A Poor Man Have That A Rich Man Needs And If You Eat It You Shall Die,"

what does a poor man have that a rich man needs, and if I eat it I will die? She thought. What kind of riddle is that. She turned to Pryll, to see if he had an idea of what tha answer was.
"Remember," The creature snarled. "The first words that come from your mouth will be your answer." She clamped her teeth shut. So she couldn't ask Pryll, and had no idea what it could be. She wasn't desperately poor, nor was she rich, soe she didn't exactly have experience to go from. And there were a lot of things that would kill you if you ate it. poisons, some foods, plants. But none of those fit the other requirements of the riddle.
She thought about this in exasperation for a good five minuted before blurting, "Nothing fits the stupid riddle!" She clapped a hand over her mouth. She hadn't meant to say it out loud. But as she thought about it, it seemed to make sense. she got her answer. "That is right isn't it?" She covered her mistake smoothly. "The poor have nothing, the rich need nothing, and if you eat nothing, you die." She hoped she was right - or they would both be dead.
((Did I get the answer right?? ))

The creature grunted, "You Are Smarter Than You Look, Child. You May Have The Crystal. Never Did I Think I Would Be Beaten, Ordinary Animals Would Never Have Guessed, And People Normally Cannot Communicate With Me. You Are Strange, Different. You Are Human, And Yet You Can Communicate With Me. However, I Must Keep My Part Of The Bargain," One of his eyes crystallized and came out, before a new eye materialized. Pryll reached down and picked it up. It was orange, nearly opaque but you could just see the other side, with a black streak down the centre, also nearly opaque. "I thank you, great creature, whether you can understand me or not," Said Pryll, "Come on, Ayira. Now we can get back to Sandew. We have the K'hadryn crystal and now we can perform the ritual...however it would be done," Holding the crystal firmly in his hand, he set off back to the edge of jungle, heading to the coast that would take him quickest to Sandew. He passed through the beautiful jungle, with it's trickling streams with mossy log-bridges, the huge pink flowers, giving off an enchanting scent. "Wow," He said approaching the beach, "What an adventure...such memories...memories," He starting thinking about memories...such memories he wished he could remember..."I think we should sleep here tonight. It's a warm night, so we shouldn't need the tent, and I want to catch up with my diary. I'll start a fire," and with that he collected some firewood and shifted into a small dragon to light it. He then lay down and started writing.

The Jewel was beautiful, an orangey color that reminded her of a setting sun in the winter. It had a blackish streak running down it, vaguely reminding her of an eye. She was rather surprised that the creature kept his part of the bargain, honestly. Usually, things that ate people, no matter how often, were vindictive, evil things. Nonetheless, she bowed.
"Thank you, serpent," She managed. "With the utmost respect, we take our leave." Somehow, she felt that rudeness was not going to settle well with this thing. Either way, she had no reason to be rude. Giving a brief translation of what Pryll had said, she followed him out of the woods.
She nodded as he began to write. "I'm going to go into the water." She waded in, clothing and all, grinning like an idiot. The ocean was her favorite place to be - never had she found a place where she was happier. Well, that room Pryll had taken her to might match it's amazingness. After a few moments, she dove under, contenting herself with watching the sea life, coming up for air when she had to. She could hold her breath for an impressive length of time for a human, and swam as deep as she dared, before coming back onto shore and laying by the fire to dry. Staring up at the stars, she drifted lazily to sleep, a vague wonder of what they were going to do the next day.

Pryll scrawled into his diary, updating it with all the information including all the minute details. It was late night by the time he'd finished, and Ayira was asleep beside him after a swim. He sighed contently and curled up into a ball with his legs tucked up, drifting into a welcome, dreamless sleep.
Pryll awoke and sat up...only to find that he began to float upwards! He looked around and saw fish swimming between the coral. He pelted up to the top of the water and looked around. He could see Drano Island about 10 metres away. He had been sleep-shifting! It had happened before, when he had awoke in mid-flight above the clouds. It took him ages before he had found his camp of the previous night. Pryll swam back towards the island, luckily reaching the same stretch of beach that he had previously been on. He could see Ayira asleep at the camp. First, he set off into the jungle to collect a few thing, then ran down the beach towards her. "Ayira," He said, shaking her gently and shifting back into himself, "Ayira, wake up. It's morning. You'll never guess where I woke up- in the middle of the ocean! Luckily, I hadn't gone too far out to sea. I sleep-shifted! It was weird waking up on the bottom of the ocean...really weird. Anyway, I reckon we should set off now, get there for noon, have lunch, then find the temple. You can ride on my back again," He shifted back into the amphibious fish-man and picked Ayira up on his back. He gave her a bamboo straw he had collected earlier and ate some fruit, giving some to Ayira. "Ready? Let's head out!"
