There is a group of islands known as the Tropano Islands. Each is different, some inhabited, some barren, some good, some evil. They can be travelled between by boat, although some sections of sea are dangerous. Whirlpools or serpents can slow you, but as long as your boat stays strong and you can plug holes, you should be fine.
